What You'll Learn
This guide walks you through opening the AI Chart Analyst, reading its insights, switching chart types and timeframes, and drawing trendlines — all in one session. By the end, you'll be able to use the analyst panel to speed up your technical research.
Step 1: Open a Stock Chart
Go to the Analysis page and type a stock symbol in the search bar (e.g., AAPL). Scroll down to the chart section. You'll see the default candlestick chart with volume bars below it.
Step 2: Activate the AI Analyst
Look for the "AI Analyst" toggle near the chart controls. Click it to open the side panel. The chart shifts to the left and the AI panel appears on the right.
The AI immediately reads the current chart and generates its first analysis. This takes a few seconds. You'll see a loading indicator while it processes.
Step 3: Read the Analysis
The AI panel shows a structured analysis with these sections:
- •Trend Summary: A one-line verdict like "Bullish uptrend with strong momentum."
- •Key Patterns: Any chart patterns detected — triangles, channels, double tops, etc.
- •Support & Resistance: Price levels where the stock has bounced or stalled.
- •Volume Analysis: Whether buying or selling pressure is dominant.
- •Trade Thesis: A plain-English summary of what the chart is telling you.
Step 4: Try Different Chart Types
Switch from Candlestick to Heikin-Ashi using the chart type selector. Notice how the analysis updates to reflect the smoother view. Heikin-Ashi is great for seeing trends more clearly.
Try Renko for a noise-free view that only shows significant price moves, or Point & Figure for classic pattern analysis. The AI adapts its commentary to each type.
Step 5: Change Timeframes
Use the timeframe buttons (1D, 1W, 1M, 3M, 6M, 1Y) to zoom in or out. A 1-month chart is good for short-term swing trades. A 1-year chart shows the bigger picture.
The AI re-analyzes each time you change the timeframe. Compare what it says about a stock on the 1-month vs 1-year view — sometimes short-term and long-term trends disagree.
Step 6: Draw a Trendline
Click the trendline tool in the chart toolbar. Click two points on the chart to draw a line. The AI incorporates your trendline into its analysis, noting whether price is above or below it and whether the trendline has been tested multiple times.
See the Drawing Trendlines guide for advanced tips on making your trendlines more effective.
